1. Find a Location
Where you set up your Sonos speakers is very important, especially if you’ll be depending on WiFi for most of your listening needs - but you can always just plug it directly into your router if you want. You’ll want to place your speakers in a spot that gets good service but also a place that allows it easy access to be plugged into the wall. Go ahead and find yourself a spot and get it connected to power.
2. Turn it On
This may seem like common sense, but just in case you’re expecting your speakers to always be on, remember that you will need to activate them by pushing the power button. Most speakers should have an indicator light that flashes green to let you know that it’s ready to go.
3. Install the App
While you can download the Sonos app on your PC or Mac at support.sonos.com, we assume you’ll probably be playing your music from your phone most of the time - so be sure to get the app on whichever device you’ll be using often. Just look up Sonos in your Apple Store or Google Play Store and start downloading it.
Once it’s downloaded, you’ll want to make sure that you choose your setup correctly by pressing “Set up a new Sonos system” after you first open it. If you’re just connecting to the WiFi and not using an ethernet cord, just press “Standard Setup” for your system otherwise you would push “Boost Setup.”
Next it will ask you to select which speakers you have by swiping through them on your screen. Once you’ve chosen your speakers, you’ll then need to to put them in “Join” mode, which the app will clarify how to do depending on your specific speaker.
4. Add More!
Now that your speakers are configured and your WiFi is set up, you are ready to start listening. And if you feel like you want more speakers, the set up to add more speakers is extremely easy. Just go to the Sonos app and click, “Add Another Player” and go through the same process as above all over again.
